William F. Schneider's Obituary
William F. Schneider, 71, of Alliance, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Hospice Care Center in Fairlawn, Ohio.
Born on November 27, 1946 in Alliance, to William F. and Dorothy (Woolf) Schneider, he lived in Alliance all his life.
William was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He also served on the Catholic Exponent Advisory Board and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
A 1965 graduate of Alliance High School, he also attended the University of Akron.
Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam Era serving our country in the U.S. Army.
William was employed at Babcock & Wilcox, Barberton, Ohio as an Information Systems Manager and retired in 2002 after 37 years of service. After his retirement, he worked as a title abstracter for the former Geiger, Teeple, Smith & Hahn.
Bill served as a board member and was past president of the Alliance Area Habitat for Humanity.
He served as an Ambassador of USAPA (United States of America Pickleball Association), was a basketball coach at Regina Coeli School, and a basketball official for the Ohio Athletic Association.
Bill loved golfing, and he always tried to make others smile with his witty sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Linda L. (Donnelly) Schneider, whom he married on April 25, 1970; two daughters, Kimberly (Steve) Pallas of Uniontown and Lisa A. (Steve) Laycock of Centerburg, OH; three grandchildren, George, Julia and James Pallas; two step-grandchildren, Andrea and Brian Laycock; a sister, Margie (Bob) Serr of Davison, MI; two brothers, Robert (Jesse) Schneider of Hacienda Heights, CA and Buddy Schneider of Fairborn, OH; and several nieces, nephews and step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Matthew Mankowski, of St. Joseph Catholic Church, as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
