Thomas R. Baxter 's Obituary
Thomas R. Baxter, 72, of Alliance, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:59 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital.
Born on May 20, 1943 in Alliance, Ohio to Ezra and Henrietta (Sobczyk) Baxter, he lived in Alliance for most of his life, and was member of Marlboro Christian Church.
A 1961 graduate of West Branch High School, he obtained an Associate Degree from Akron University in 1976.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Thomas was employed at American Steel Foundry in accounting and retired in 1999 after 25 years of service.
He was a member of the Lexington Ruritans, Alliance BPO Elks, and the Senior Golf Association.
Tom enjoyed baseball, softball, basketball, golf, tennis, watching sports, and especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports and other activities.
Survivors include his wife, Christa Marie (Schwab) Baxter, whom he married on March 4, 1967; a daughter, Diane Erika (Scott) Schrader of Canton; a son, Richard D. (Christina) Baxter of Alliance; six grandchildren, Sabrina, Rachel, Adam, Noah, Mitchell, and Madison; two brothers, Charles "Sarge" (Carol) Baxter of Michigan and Alan (Helen) Paul of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his two brothers, Connie Baxter and Reynold "Grennie" Baxter; and a sister, Mary Wilson.
The family will receive friends at Marlboro Christian Church on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm. His Memorial Service will follow at 3:30 p.m. with Edward Harnish, of Marlboro Christian Church, officiating.
