I met Steve when he worked with my Dad, Bruce, on the Alliance Fire Department. We became friends, and he was there for me during a difficult time in my life. I remember taking my boys when they were little to the Mount Union station for a visit. Steve showed them around, and put on the turnout gear, complete with mask, to show them what he would look like if they ever needed his help during a fire. I haven't seen him in years, as life goes you lose touch, but I will forever remember his kindness.
My little blond cousin who loved to ride my horse "Goldie" - you will be missed. Shirley Maffei

A good friend. Gave my son a truck. So sad to hear he died. God got a good man.
I am so sorry to hear about Steven. It's been years since I have seen him -my fondest memory of Him:.One Easter Sunday when I was just 18 and at the Willard house for Easter Dinner. Steve was playing around with colored eggs and thought he was smacking a hard boiled one on my head - it turned out to be a raw egg. The look on his face was priceless, I don't know who was more stunned!!! Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time.
