Ronald "Pizzy" Pisanello's Obituary
Ronald Pete "Pizzy" Pisanello, 74, of Alliance, left us on April 18, 2009 to be with the Lord. He was born on August 24, 1934 in Alliance and lived here most of his life. A 1952 graduate of Alliance High School, Ron s first job was a meter reader for Columbia Gas Co. and then served our country with the U. S. Navy reserves from 1953 - 1957, and active duty from 1957 - 1959. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and had served as an usher for many years. He was the original co-owner of Pisanello Pizza in Alliance until the 1960s, at which time he moved to Kent and opened Pisanello Pizza in the Kent Hotel. He later owned Big Daddy s and Pirate s Cove nightclubs. In the 1970s, Ronnie co-owned Pisanello s Tower House Pizza in the Kent College Towers, a popular stopping place for the Cleveland Browns who were then holding training camp at Kent State University. Ronnie returned to his family home in Alliance in 1982 and worked for the City of Alliance until his retirement in 2007. Ronnie also continued the job he loved, catering his Italian food for special occasions and The Elks Club and making his home made rolls for the Alliance VFW. Mr. Pisanello was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council #558, V.F.W #1036, P.B.O Elks Lodge #467, the Roma Club and the Christopher Columbus Society. In his past-time, he enjoyed computers, art, sports and music. He is survived by two sisters, Loretta Atkins of Copley, and Inez (Charles) Begue of Suffield, OH; two brothers, Vincent (Florence) Pisanello of Alliance and Dante (Helen) Pisanello of Alliance; and his 14 adored nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Michael Pisanello and Antonietta (Romano) Pisanello; a brother, Angelo Pisanello; a sister and brother-in-law, Amelia and Dominic Origlio; and a brother-in-law, Albert Atkins. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. A K of C Prayer Service will be held at 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert, as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
