Peter Drakulich, Jr.'s Obituary
Peter Drakulich, Jr., 83, an American hero, of Alliance, died on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at his home. He was much loved by his sons and daughters, grandchildren and friends. He was a man who was very well respected. He was born on October 6, 1925 in Mogadore, and lived in Alliance since 1949. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. A decorated veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Army and was a former P.O.W. from the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Peter retired from Alliance Clay Products. He was also a self-employed mechanic and was owner of several area gas stations. In his past-time, he enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Catherine (Randy) Stenhouse of Massillon and Cecelia Drakulich of Alliance; four sons, Thomas (Rhonda) Drakulich of Alliance, Timothy (Becky) Drakulich of North Canton, Mark (Natalie) Drakulich of Alliance and Michael (Nancy) Drakulich of Alliance; nine grandchildren, Alissa, Emily, Joseph, Adam, Sarah, Rachel, Steve, Matthew and Katie; two sisters, Pauline Gamble of TX and Mildred Gwynn of FL; a brother, William (Carolyn) Drakulich of Atwater; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Marcella E. (Stutz) Drakulich on April 17, 2007, whom he married on February 26, 1949; two grandsons, Alexander Otani on July 1, 2006 and James Lee Drakulich on June 18, 2008; his parents, Peter and Rose (Dubovski) Drakulich, Sr.; and four half brothers, Andy, Joe, Steve and Jim Hemela. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 16, 2009, from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert, as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
