Mary A. Gerback 's Obituary
Mary A. (Pilys) Gerback, 89, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, December 17, 2017 at her home in Alliance.
Born on May 1, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts to Alfonse and Michalina (Jeselonis) Pilys, she was a 1948 graduate of Cheverus High School in Massachusetts.
Mary moved to Alliance in 1952 after her marriage to her husband Roy. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and their Altar & Rosary Society. She was also active with the Funtastics, including her many bus trips with them. She also enjoyed playing cards with the Victoria Mission.
Mary enjoyed taking care of her home and was involved with the church assisting with cleaning, school cafeteria, serving funeral dinners and whatever else she could assist in helping. However, her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her most cherished times.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Jeffrey) Smith of Mogadore, OH, Jean (Brian) McAllister of Alliance, OH; two sons, Mark (Lois) Gerback of Minerva, OH, Joseph (Rachelle) Gerback of Louisville, OH; five grandchildren, Andrew Gerback, Adam Gerback, Tony McAllister, Errik Gerback, Taylor Gerback; three great-grandchildren, Sammy Gerback, Benjamin Gerback, Cameron Gerback; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Roy A. Gerback on February 16, 1993, whom she married on June 29, 1952; her parents, Alfonse and Michalina Pilys; a sister, Wanda Pilys; and two brothers, Frank Pilys, and Frederick Pilys.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 23, 2017 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
