John Bilcze's Obituary
John Bilcze, 89, formerly of Alliance, died on Tuesday, September 7, 2004, in LaPlata, MD. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II as a "Fighting Seabee" in the Pacific Islands. He later worked as a welder for the Alliance Machine Co. until retirement. Mr. Bilcze also volunteered at Alliance High School teaching students the fundamentals of welding. His brilliance with flowers landed him a job with the Alliance Country Club until moving six years ago to Maryland to be closer to his family. John loved gardening, fishing, golf, football, traveling and above all, spending time with his family - and oh, did he love to laugh and tell a good joke - he was genuinely loved, respected and admired by all who knew him, no one was a stranger. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Mae "Shorty" Bilcze; a daughter Joyce Ann and her husband, Larry W. Call; five grandchildren and spouses, Jodice Ann and Edward Rannin, Daniel Ray and Deborah Call, Yvonne Louise and Hank Barry, Ramona Lynne and Walter Hanson, Lisa Renee Evans and Jeff Montbriand; 16 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one nephew, Kurt Bilcze and wife, Sandy; one great niece; and one great nephew. John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Bilcze; and one brother, Louis Bilcze. Memorial services will be held at Alliance City Cemetery on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 12:00 noon with the Rev. William L. Gross officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
