James H. Dowdy's Obituary
James H. Dowdy, 63, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:03 am at his home in Alliance.
Born on February 20, 1953 in Alliance, to Russell and Mattie (Barker) Dowdy, he lived in Alliance for most of his life and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
A veteran of Vietnam War, he served our country in the U.S. Army.
James was employed at Davey Tree as a Tree Trimmer, and was the owner of several Alliance businesses. He was also the inventor of the Cycle Hammock and Jack.
James enjoyed playing his guitar, riding his Harley, and spending time with family.
Survivors include three daughters, Peaches (James Kriner) Dowdy of Alliance, Jamie (Leo) Sajka of Alliance, and Dena (Craig) Underwood of Alliance; three grandchildren, Jimmy, Mary and Michael; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Grantz and Pearlie Fish both of Alliance; a brother, Walter Dowdy of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Trena (Wymer) Dowdy; his parents; and two brothers, Cape Dowdy and Vincent Dowdy.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Alliance City Cemetery.
