Dr. Frank A. Lukez's Obituary
Dr. Frank A. Lukez, retired Alliance Pediatrician, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10:55 p.m. at his home. He was 82. He was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia on November 24, 1929. His family fled their homeland to Austria on May 8, 1945 and became refugees, later immigrating to the United States in 1949. He lived in Alliance since 1963 and was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 to join his family, where he worked for a 2 year duration and returned to Italy to complete Medical School. He was a 1956 graduate of the University of Padova Medical School in Italy. He completed his pediatric residency at Hurley Hospital in Flint Michigan and later obtained a Master s in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. He retired in September of 2007 after 43 years in private practice, as a dedicated and passionate physician to the children in the community of Alliance. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Satterfield) Lukez whom he married on September 21, 1963; four daughters, Mary (Yancy) Gore of Paonia, CO, Margaret (Paul) Rohart of Palm Harbor, FL, Christina Lukez of Carbondale, CO, and Elizabeth (Joel) Bartis of Charlotte, NC; a son, Frank (Shannon) Lukez of Canton, OH; eight grandchildren, Tell, Tess, Olwyn, Rowan, Bronwyn, Nathan, Joshua, and Jacob; two brothers, Branislav Lukez of Broadview Heights, OH and Rudolph Lukez of Kirkland, OH; two nieces, Caroline & Jane; and nephews, Paul, Rudy, Andre, John, Michael, Mark and Matjaz. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Martha Lukez; his parents, Rudolph and Marija (Moze) Lukez; and a sister, Vlasta Klemencic. Dr. Lukez will always be remembered for his extraordinary care, his endless dedication and outstanding compassion as a pediatrician. As a dedicated father and husband, he will forever be cherished for his beautiful mind, his sense of humor and generous spirit. The public is invited for visitation at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church for the immediate family. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
