Wilson P. Craig's Obituary
Wilson P. Craig, 90, of Alliance, died on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 2:15 a.m. at Aultman Hospital. He was born on November 4, 1918 in Bellaire, and lived in Alliance since 1936. A U. S. Marine veteran of World War II, Wilson retired from the Service Division of Columbia Gas Company. Mr. Craig was a life member of and past Commander of the American Legion #166, a life member of the B.P.O Elks #467, a member of the DAV #50, V.F.W #1036, 1st Marine Division Association and the Marine Corp. Association. He also served 31 years as an Ohio Highway Patrol Auxiliary. In his past-time, he enjoyed traveling, gardening, and reading. He is survived by a daughter, Debra Jean Rupp of Port Orange, FL; a son, Curtis L. Craig of Garden City, South Carolina; four grandsons; two great-grandsons; two sisters, Lillian Warner of New Philadelphia, Verma Lorenz of New Philadelphia; a brother, Thomas B. Craig of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Mary E. (Long) Craig on February 10, 2000, whom he married on July 24, 1940; two sons, Richard and Gary Craig; his parents, Bud and Callie N. J. (Ruble) Craig; three sisters; and two brothers. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. David Hostettler officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
