William E. Swain, Sr.'s Obituary
William E. Swain, Sr., 83, of Alliance, died on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 12:35 a.m. Born on February 26, 1924 in Alliance, he had lived in Alliance all of his life. A veteran of World War II, he had served our country in the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 166 for 21 years. Mr. Swain was formerly employed at Moore s Body Shop. In his free time, he enjoyed doing machine work, working on tractors and lawn mowers. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo (Jerry) Greene of Jefferson City, TN and Sandy (Dan) Collins of Alliance; two sons, Donald (Toni) Blackburn of Lawton, OK and Bill Miller of Alliance; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Frances Swain on July 14, 1984, whom he married on August 27, 1962; three sons, William E. Swain, Jr., Lawrence Blackburn and Thomas J. Miller; his parents, Elworth W. and Abigale I. (Ackerman) Swain; and two brothers, Eston and Robert Swain. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, November 1, 2007 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Herbert Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
