William "Bill" Stoll's Obituary
William "Bill" Stoll peacefully entered the heavenly kingdom on September 3, 2008, after a long illness, in the arms of his high school sweetheart and adoring wife of 51 years, and in the loving presence of his daughter and grandson. Bill was born in Alliance, Ohio in 1937, to the late Olan and Margaret Stewart Stoll. He resided in Alliance until 1996, when he and his wife Jan moved to N. Padre Island off of Corpus Christi, TX., to be close to the water and his grandson. A graduate of Alliance High School, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and went to boot camp with eight of his life long friends. He was stationed at the Jacksonville, Fl. Naval Air Base aboard the USS Forrestral, and he received an honorable discharge. In the early 1960's Bill was a barber and was also a fireman on the Alliance City Fire Dept., where he drove the aerial fire truck. When the General Motors complex in Lordstown opened he was hired for security in the fire detail dept. After 27 years of faithful service he retired from GM as the Regional Investigator of white collar crime. Bill and his wife, the former Janice Freytag, were married March 9, 1957, by the late Rev. Joseph Henderson, at the Christ United Methodist Church. Bill is a 48 year member of the church. Mr. Stoll was a member of the Conrad Masonic Lodge # 271 F & A.M., the Alliance Chapter # 83, the Alliance Council # 112 and the Alliance Commandery #67. His interests included hunting, fishing, boating, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, his in-laws Lee and Roberta Freytag, infant daughter Jody Lynn Stoll, and infant grandson Andrew Lee Smith. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife Janice, daughter Tammy Smith and grandson, Mitchell Lee Smith of Corpus Christi, TX, his brother Richard Gale Stoll of Alliance, three nieces, five nephews, several aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, and one very special cousin, Doris Lowers of Massillon, Ohio. The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to Cathy Campbell, RN and VistaCare Hospice, and to Bill s buddy John Flores, RN and his family and staff at Serenity House, for their kindness and exemplary care. Special thanks to Dr. David Vanderheiden, Kathy, Carol, the Hagopian family and our many friends in Ohio for their support. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, September 8, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Masonic service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
