William M. Offenbecher's Obituary
William M. Offenbecher, 89, of Alliance, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 9:05 pm at Belle Springs Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
Born on December 19, 1936 in Alliance to Martin and Esther (Davia) Offenbecher, he lived in Alliance most of his life.
William was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A 1955 graduate of Alliance High School, he also graduated from the University of Illinois.
William was employed at Springfield South High School as a Teacher, Football Coach, and a Night School Principal.
He was a member of the Dante Alighieri Society; Stark County Teachers Assocation, National Teachers Association, University of Illinois Alumni Club and their I-mens Club.
He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science & Physical Education and obtained a Masters Degree from Westminster College in Wilmington, PA. William received his Principal's Certificate from Youngstown State University. He also received a Counselor' Degree. He graduated in 1959 and his first teaching position was at West Branch. He retired in 1990 after 30 years and then returned to teaching again at Alliance High School for 7 years, when he retired for a 2nd time.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta L (Peloso) Offenbecher, whom he married on June 23, 1956; three sons, Robert Offenbecher of Alliance, Brad (Tammy) Offenbecher of Bellefontaine, Barry "BJ" (Candy) Offenbecher of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Julie Williamson, Amy Webb, Nicole Offenbecher, Bray Offenbecher, Bryant Offenbecher, Bobby Offenbecher, Kate James, Drew Offenbecher and Brady Offenbecher; 15 great-grandchildren, Rylee Williamson, Reese Williamson, Alex Webb, Sophie Webb, Grace Offenbecher, Marlow James, Wade Williamson, Clara Offenbecher, Anne Offenbecher, Abigail Offenbecher, Bella James, Eleanor Offenbecher, Benjamin Offenbecher, Joseph Offenbecher and Henry Offenbecher; step-great-grandchild, Lilly James; a brother, Thomas (Polly) Offenbecher of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his son, Brent Offenbecher; his parents; and a sister, Betty Moore.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Matt Humerickhouse, as celebrant.
