William P. Macrito's Obituary
William P. Macrito, 98, of Alliance, died on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 5:49 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born on April 7, 1913 in Alliance, he had lived here all of his life. A veteran of World War II, he served our country in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 166 and the VFW Post 1036. Mr. Macrito retired from the State Liquor Store in Alliance, where he was employed as Assistant Manager. He had previously been owner & operator of the former Canteen. He was also a member of the Christopher Columbus Society. In his past-time, he enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his wife, R. Anna L. (Fender) Macrito whom he married on January 17, 1968; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Pasqualina (Tenuta) Macrito; and two brothers, Paul Macrito and Attilio Macrito. Private funeral services will be held. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
