William Wilson Grandon's Obituary
William Wilson Grandon, 94, of Alliance, died on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 8:10 a.m. at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring. He was born on July 26, 1917 in Akron, and lived in Alliance for the past 33 years. Mr. Grandon was a graduate of Columbus School for the Deaf and was a member of the Akron Deaf club for over 30 years. Bill was a member of Akron/Canton Baptist Temple and retired from Wilkinson Chutes, where he was employed as a sheet metal worker. In his past-time, he enjoyed fishing, sports, woodworking, playing cards and bingo. Most of all, he enjoyed family gatherings and picnics. He is survived by his two daughters, Susan (Robert) Westfall of Akron and Carolyn (Matt) Dugan of Alliance; two sons, Harold (Linda) Grandon of Alliance and Mark (Tammy) Grandon of Sebring; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Hrosky of Akron; special friend, Peggy Zeppernick of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, of fifty years, Eleanor (Dietry) Grandon on May 19, 2003, whom he married on September 20, 1952; his parents, William and Gertrude (Wilson) Grandon; two grandsons; a daughter-in-law; five sisters; and a brother. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Darwin Smith of Deaf Outreach Church of Green Ohio, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
