William E. Findling, Jr.'s Obituary
William E. Findling, Jr., 68, of Alliance, died on Monday, October 16, 2006, at 2:41 a.m. at his residence. Mr. Findling was born on July 3, 1938 in Alliance, and lived here most of his life. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and was a life member of the American Legion Post 166 and the VFW Post 1036. William attended the Alliance Evangelical Friends Church and retired from Hoppel Fabrication in Louisville. He enjoyed pets and gardening and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Findling is survived by his wife, Barbara (Smith) Findling, whom he married on January 5, 1962; two daughters, Suzanne Kirkpatrick; and Stephanie (Clyde Hendershot) Findling, both of Alliance; a son, David (Robin) Findling of Alliance; a granddaughter, Abbyann Findling; his mother, Helen (Diver) Findling of Alliance; a sister, Sharon (Jim) Unger of Alliance; a brother, Robert (Jo) Findling of Sebring; and several nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his father, William E. Findling, Sr., and a brother, Louis Findling. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
