William J. Devers' Obituary
William J. Devers, 69, of Alliance, died on Friday, August 2, 2002, at 7:30 p.m. at Altercare of Alliance. Born in Alliance on June 23, 1933, he was a 1951 Alliance High School graduate and had lived all his life in Alliance. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from SIA America after 32 years of service and had attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include his five daughters and sons-in-law; Therese Devers of Alliance, Brenda and Gerry Parks of Houston, TX, Bernice Devers of Alliance, Belinda and Jerry Mazzei of Sebring, and Bernadine Sedei of Alliance; a son, Stephen Devers of Sebring; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Anita Emplit of Homeworth; 11 grandchildren; 1 great- granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Ann Devers of Alliance; a longtime friend, Ella Antill of Burnsville, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, George H. and Lillian (Fichter) Devers; a sister, Ann Ellis and two brothers, George and Robert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 7, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 6, 2002, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
