William J. Burgess' Obituary
William J. Burgess, 58, of Alliance, was pronounced at 7:29 a.m. in the emergency room at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on November 11, 1952 in Massillon, and lived in Alliance most of his life. A graduate of Akron University with a B.A. in Education, Bill was an Art teacher for over 30 years and has been at Warren City Schools for the last 11. In his past-time, he enjoyed old movies, radio shows, drawing caricatures and boogie boarding. He served our country in the U. S. Navy and played with the Navy Steel Band. He is survived by his wife, Jane Burgess whom he married on August 20, 1995; a son, Bradley Burgess of Massillon; a step-son, Mark Wilson of Clute, TX; grandchildren, Samantha, Logan and Jeremy; two sisters, Mary Aycock and Cindy Bonan both of Massillon; and a brother, Robert Burgess of Canton. Preceding him in death were his parents, Carol (Maier) and Sidney Burgess. A memorial service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, November 7, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William Burns officiating. Interment, with military honors provided will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Massillon at a later date.
