When I was hired 12 years ago as the local Service Forester, Bill took me under his wing. I will never forget our time together in his woods and the lessons he taught me. I only worked that county for a few years, but we kept in touch off and on. He was opinionated, but he would also listen. We had some lively discussions over the years. Ironically, I was in a pine stand on Friday with a landowner who told me his pine was worthless and not worth managing. I shared Bill's story with him, and I think I changed the guys mind. I had no idea at the time that Bill was already gone. While he will be missed, his legacy lives on in many, many ways. Jeremy
