Wilbur Durm's Obituary
Wilbur L. Durm, 87, of Alliance, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024.
Born on January 17, 1937 in Alliance to Virgil and Flora Edna (Salisbury) Durm, he lived in Alliance all of his life.
He attended Alliance High School until his enlistment in the U.S. Navy in 1955.
Wilbur was employed at TRW Metals where he was involved in production of turbine blades for the Super Sonic Transport. He was Shop Supervisor for Electronic Circuit and Design during the infancy of circuit board technology and finished his career at Hercules Engines as an electrician, retiring in 1999.
He served in the Army National Guard (Ohio), for over 23 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #667 in East Canton and the Sons of American Revolution, Ohio Society.
Wilbur was a Boy Scout Leader from 2005 – 2020 and was an active volunteer at the Seven Ranges Scout Reservation.
He was a Master Knife Maker, Wine Maker, and built, customized and restored multiple cars and antique tractors.
Survivors include his wife, Carol M. (Orsetti) Durm, whom he married on December 24, 1991; his son, Anthony T. "Tony" (Lisann) Durm of Marietta; two daughters, Christina L. "Tina" (Peter Polasky) Sadler and Leticia M. "Tish" (Kevin) Phillips of Tallmadge; six grandchildren, Kayleigh Durm, Todd Durm, Joshua (Antonella) Sadler, Jason Sadler, Paige Phillips and Alexander Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Ronnie and Jerry Durm; and his sister, Virginia D. Wilkinson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park.
