Wilbur C. Borton's Obituary
Wilbur C. Borton, 82, of Alliance, died on Thursday, June 20, 2002, at 4:00 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Alliance, on December 24, 1919, he had lived all of his life in the Alliance area. Mr. Borton was a graduate of Fenn College, now Cleveland State University, where he received his degree in structural engineering. He had retired from American Steel Foundry as an Engineer, after 46 years of service. A veteran of World War II, he had served in the U. S. Navy on the USS Westmoreland. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Masonic Temple and had been very active with the Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Keith A. and Cheri Borton of White City, Oregon; one granddaughter, Kellie Ann; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph C. and Joan Borton of Salem, Oregon; two aunts, Estella (Borton) Day of Alliance and Marion (Hafner) Vought of Akron; and several, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his wife, Virginia on August 4, 2000 (they were married on February 13, 1943); his parents, John Spencer and Clara (Hafner) Borton; and a sister, Betty Isabel Borton. A Memorial Service will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. with Sue DeHoff officiating. A private interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. There are no calling hours.
