"Whitey" Moore 's Obituary
Robert "Whitey" Moore, 87, of Alliance, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 12:30 pm at his home in Alliance.
Born on August 26, 1932 in Alliance, to Howard and Greathel (Shook) Moore, he lived in Alliance all of his life.
Whitey was a recent member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He attended Alliance High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving our country in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Whitey retired from Hoover Company after 30 years of service.
He was a longtime member and officer of the Dante Alighieri Society and was a member of the Christopher Columbus Society.
Whitey was an avid baseball player and Cleveland Indians fan. When Whitey was twelve, he was a member of the initial team known as Goathill AC. He played baseball and softball throughout his life and later umpired softball.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Cathy & Mike Manese of Indian Harbour Beach, FL and their children: Nick, Nate & Natalie; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby & Diana Moore of Alliance, OH and children: Jessica, Robby & Shawna; daughter & son-in-law, Lynn & Bill Fast of Alliance, OH and their children, Jarrod, Kylene & Joe; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck & Pam Moore of Tacoma, WA and his children, Ryan, Olivia & Alex; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Offenbecher) Moore, whom he married on April 3, 1954 and who died on August 31, 2015; his parents; and a sister, Peg Davidson.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Very Rev. Canon Matthew J. Mankowski, of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, as celebrant. Private burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
