Walter R. Buhn's Obituary
Walter R. Buhn, 89, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville, Ohio.
Born on June 11, 1932, in Alliance to Martin and Sophia (Csaki) Buhn, he lived in Alliance for all of his life.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Walter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he volunteered including playing "Santa" for the children at Christmas.
He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Walter was employed as a Technician at Babcock & Wilcox where he retired in 1982 after 27 years of service. Upon retirement, he continued working for Carli Lumber Company, the family business, as well as Service Master and Grove Plaque.
He was a graduate of the National Radio School and a member of the YMCA, where, as an avid swimmer he swam a mile every day. Walter was also a woodworker and an accomplished bowler.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Catherine (Brunori) Buhn, whom he married on November 9, 1957; his daughter, Carla (Jeff) Sturm of Massillon; his son, David A. (Jennifer) Buhn of Westerville; his granddaughter, Taylor Sturm; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and three brothers, Martin Jr., Carl, and William.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. G. David Weikart, as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
