Waldemar M. "Walt" Mundy's Obituary
Waldemar M."Walt" Mundy, age 87, of Paris Twp., passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 26, 2010. Born in Bath, Ohio, Walt began his career at the B.F. Goodrich Chemical Company in Akron. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II with the 100th Bomber Group. After his military service, he worked as plant engineer for Goodyear Aerospace Corporation and later for National Rubber Machinery. He graduated from the University of Akron in 1952 with a bachelor s degree in industrial management, and completed mechanical engineering training at Curtiss-Wright Technical Institute in Glendale, California. Walt was a long-standing member of the American Society of Plastics Engineers and the American Society of Tool and Manufacturing Engineers. He retired in 1990 from Davis-Standard, a Division of Crompton & Knowles Corporation based in Connecticut. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Mundy (nee McVan), and his sister, Sylvia Roy. Walt is survived by his children, Keith (Agnes) Mundy of Parma; Meg Mundy of Paris Twp.; Michael (Sheryl) Mundy of Flagstaff, AZ; and John Mundy of San Francisco, CA; as well as grandchildren, Ryan Mundy, Elizabeth Mundy, Sarah Mundy, Kate Mundy, Matt Mundy and Lauren Mundy; and many nieces and nephews. Walt was a member of St. Joseph s Catholic Church in Alliance, where he served on both finance and building committees. He had a strong passion for the Catholic faith, and enjoyed assisting others, gardening, and spending time with family. He will be missed by many. A private celebration of Walt s life will be held by the family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice for their kindness and compassionate support during Walt s care.
