Vito M. Guappone, Sr.'s Obituary
Vito M. Guappone, Sr., 76, of Alliance, died at home Sunday, May 23, 2010, at 2:35 p.m. He was born on June 30, 1933 in Salem, and lived in Alliance most of his life. His early adult years were spent in his element, entertaining and playing drums in his many bands around Ohio and California. His middle years were spent providing tirelessly for his family. He retired from the Knights of Columbus, where he was a devoted insurance sales representative. He took great pride in serving his many clients throughout Ohio. He was truly a trusted advisor and friend to them; and in return he was given their friendship and support, especially in times of illness. His pasta fagioli benefits will not be forgotten. As a grampa and papa, Vito was again in his element. He truly lived for his grandchildren and the joy they brought him. Each of his four grandchildren and four children brought him a unique pride; he had a unique and special relationship with each. This pride and love lifted his spirits daily. One of his favorite things to do was enjoy good food with friends, reminiscing over the many memories of the full life he had, especially the good old days. Vito also enjoyed playing golf and later spent time making other golfers smile as a starter at local courses. He was also a U. S. Army veteran and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He is survived by a daughter, Michelle A. (Chris) Weber of Mercer Island, WA; three sons, Vito M. (Angie) Guappone of Alliance, Victor (Jerri) Guappone of Phoenix, AZ and Richard Allen of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Michelle Miller of Phoenix, AZ, Olivia and Christian Weber both of Mercer Island, WA, and Isabella Guappone of Alliance. Preceding him in death were his parents, Leonard and Rosemary (Ferreri) Guappone; and beloved brother, Leonard Guappone, Jr. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Paul Tobin, as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
