Virginia O. Stanley's Obituary
Virginia O. Stanley, 93, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at 4:50 a.m. at Canterbury Villa of Alliance. Born in Chester, West Virginia, on January 29, 1910, she had been a resident of the Alliance area since 1972. Mrs. Stanley was a graduate of Chester High School and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Jean (Homer) Pickens of Sun City, AZ; three sons, Donald (Connie) Stanley and Gary (Carol) Stanley, both of Alliance, and Alan (Sheila) Stanley of Hartville; a sister, Margaret Smith of Greyson, GA; 12 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Stanley in April, 1962; her daughter, Marilyn Stanley; her grandson, Rex Stanley; her parents, Charles and Bertha (Lamp) Sprout; a sister, Iona Shroades; and seven brothers, Virgil, Wallace, Harold, Bill, Vernon, George, and Wayne Sprout. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, July 18, 2003, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 19, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. with Dean Miller of the Hartville Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow at United Presbyterian Cemetery in Calcutta, Ohio.
