Virginia Kathleen "Katie" Morris' Obituary
Virginia Kathleen "Katie" Morris, 91, of Sebring, Ohio, formerly of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, Ohio. Katie was born in Hagans, WV on August 23, 1920 to the late Willie Clarence West and the late Lettie Tennant West. She lived most of her life in Morgantown, moving to Ohio in 2010 to be near family. She graduated from Morgantown High School in 1938. Her career involved working at several companies in Morgantown including Christopher Coal, F&M Bank, Fredlock s, and the Department of Energy (DOE). She retired from DOE as a contract specialist in January 1987. Katie is survived by her daughter Carol Ann (Grant) Standiford of Brandon, Mississippi; son Thomas Alan (Rebecca) Morris of Alliance, Ohio; granddaughter Tara Leigh (Chris) Griffing of Lena, Mississippi; granddaughter Erinn Doria (Jim) Rawlings of Memphis, Tennessee; granddaughter Elizabeth Jane (Mark) Rife of Westerville, Ohio; granddaughter Jessica Lyn (Dwayne) Malone of Delaware, Ohio; grandson Timothy Adam Morris of North Canton, Ohio; twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norval Thomas Morris in 1967 and her sister Eva Pauline Bracken Jackson in 1981. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. with a service to follow. Interment will be in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown. Local arrangements were by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
