Virginia (Akins) Ramsey Montague's Obituary
Virginia (Akins) Ramsey Montague, 94, of Alliance, died on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 1:50 p.m. at the Sterling House of Alliance. Born on December 9, 1917 in Alliance, she lived in Alliance all of her life and was a graduate of Alliance High School. Virginia was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, and had owned and operated the former Virginia s Day Care Center. In her past-time, she enjoyed reading, puzzles and gardening. Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Tony) Smith of Wellington, OH and Rita (Bryan) Swanson of Forestville, CT; four sons, Donald (Nancy) Ramsey of Orlando, FL, Gary Ramsey of Ft. Smith, AR, Richard (Janet) Ramsey of Ft. Smith, AR and Thomas (Tracy) Ramsey of Brooksville, FL; a daughter-in-law, Rella Ramsey of Alliance; a grandson, Robert Ramsey of Dallas, GA; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Beth Schulze of Alliance, OH; two brothers, Dale Akins of Florida and Willis Akins of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Vernon Ramsey on April 20, 1963; her second husband, Jack A. Montague on January 4, 2003, whom she married on March 20, 1965; her parents, Glenn and Mary (Bossert) Akins; a son, Pat Ramsey of Alliance; two sisters, Dorothy Davies and Ruth Ann Scholze; and two brothers, Clem Akins and Robert Akins. Her funeral service was held at Fairmount Memorial Park on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Megan Elliott, of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, officiated. There were no calling hours. Interment followed at Fairmount Memorial Park.
