Virginia F. Burky's Obituary
Virginia Frances Burky, age 86, of Alliance passed away peacefully Monday morning, June 19, 2006, following a long illness. She was born on September 28, 1919 in Alliance Ohio, the youngest of a family of five sisters and one brother, to Joseph and Versebella Mickan, all of whom are deceased. She was a 1937 honors graduate of Alliance High School. She married Benjamin Burky on January 13, 1940, and they lived their entire lives in Alliance. Virginia is survived by her son, Alan (Sara) Burky of Uniontown; three grandchildren, Leanne (Brian) Scott of North Canton, Jonathan of Uniontown, and Ryan (Rebecca) of Bel Air Maryland; five great-grandchildren, Briana, Meredith, and Bailey Scott, and Lucas and Lillianna Burky; son-in-law, David Mangus; special friend, Don Burgett; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ben in 2002; and her daughter, Janice Mangus in 1996. Virginia enjoyed gardening, traveling, winning radio contests, reunions, favorite restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. Special thanks to caretakers, Amy George and Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, June 22, 2006, from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Sue DeHoff of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
