Viktoria "Doris" Scaia's Obituary
Viktoria "Doris" Scaia, 78, of Alliance, died on Monday, July 6, 2009, at 2:40 a.m., at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born on January 14, 1931 in Munich, Germany, and immigrated to the United States in December of 1954, and lived in Alliance ever since. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Viktoria operated the Saxon Club with her husband when she first came to Alliance and in the later years she operated Westville Lake Camping Grounds with her husband. Mrs. Scaia enjoyed her lunch outings with the "Woolworth s Girls," traveling on the day bus trips and going to Amish Country. She also enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and had a love of animals. She is survived by three daughters, Lorraine P. (Bennie) Brienza of Alliance, Christine M. (William) Stillwagon of Riverside, CA and Darlene J. (Robert) Havlin of Alliance; two grandchildren, Bennie (Kathy) Brienza, Jr. and Renee L. (Michael) Cervellino; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Daniel F. Scaia on June 5, 2002; a son, Donnie Scaia; two granddaughters, Tonya Brienza and Melissa Brienza; her parents, Johann and Maria Dankesreiter; and a brother, Alfons Dankesreiter. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, July 10, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
