Victoria Erchick's Obituary
The world lost a beautiful woman and an avid Indians’ fan on July 5 when 96 year old Vicky (Victoria) Erchick passed away at Bel Air Care Center. Mom was ready to reunite with her husband of 59 years Jay (Julius), who passed away in 2006.
Her parents, John and Savina Burson, emigrated from Romania, settled in Alliance and raised six children, Mary Reda, John Burson, Jennie Carli, Steven Burson, Helen Bogdan and Vicky. After schooling, mom's life was centered around caring for her husband and two daughters, Judy (Frank) Allison and Carol (Richard) Hunt. She worked a few jobs, the longest of which was at Alliance Manufacturing.
She carried her Romanian heritage through her cooking and baking and, of course, her pigs in a blanket. Many people from Alliance and elsewhere know of mom's delicious pigs, made annually to celebrate New Year's Eve.
With a heart for others, Vicky was a member and volunteered at the Alliance Senior Citizen Center, worked as an election day poll worker, helped with the school hot lunch program and, alongside her husband, cheered on sporting events for her grandkids.
Anyone who met mom would agree that she made them laugh with her sometimes irreverent sense of humor. You never knew what kind of response you would get from her, but it was always one to bring a smile to your face. With her Halloween birthday and having had a mother who was born in Transylvania, her family thought for sure that she would win the lottery through scratch off tickets or her numbers. That never happened here on Earth, but she has won the big one now, in heaven with Jay and her dog Maizey to celebrate with her.
Besides her daughters and sons-in-law, she is survived by six grandchildren: Diane (Randy) Fotheringham, Frank (Chris) Allison, Kim (Donnie) Schilling, Jared (Heather) Hunt, Jordan (Amber) Hunt and Justin (Bryn) Hunt; fourteen great-grandchildren, Taylor (Chad) White, Dylan (Sara) Fotheringham, Noah Allison, Katie Allison, Gwyneth Douce, Kyle Douce, Layton Hunt, Brayden Hunt, Andrew Hunt, Madelyn Hunt, Emmerson Hunt, Leo Hunt, Jackson Hunt and Grayson Hunt; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Chris and Blakelyn who helped her and the family as well.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and her great-grandchild, Nevin Allison.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 10:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with Rev. G. David Weikart, as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
To remember her sense of giving, in lieu of flowers, please donate to Aultman Alliance Hospice, 270 East State Street Suite 130 or Bel Air Care Center 2350 Cherry Street Alliance, OH 44601.
