Vernon O. TeWinkel's Obituary
Vernon O. TeWinkel, 84, of Alliance, died on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at 2:10 a.m. at the Alliance Community Care Center following a short illness. Vernon was born on January 25, 1922, in Baldwin, WI, and moved to Alliance in 1987. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Mr. TeWinkel retired from the Joerns Furniture Company of Stevens Point, WI, where he was employed as district sales manager. "Vernon was much loved by his family and his presence will be greatly missed." He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl DiVittorio of Waukegan, IL, and Diane (Richard) Peloso of Alliance; a son, Duane (Kathryn) TeWinkel of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Shannon Godby, Sheila Brand, Edwin TeWinkel, and Jason Schneider; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iolean Johnson of St. Paul, MN, and Betty Lou Hartenstein of River Falls, WI; three brothers, Floyd TeWinkel of Sun Prairie, WI, Morris TeWinkel of River Falls, WI, and Donald TeWinkel of Sheboygan, WI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sons, John TeWinkel in 1975 and Kenneth TeWinkel in 1987; parents, Edwin and Ella (Gaustad) TeWinkel; a sister, Margaret Grier, and two brothers, Eugene Condon and Thomas TeWinkel. Memorial services will be held at Sunset Hills Burial Park on Friday, August 11, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Larry Morrison of the Faith United Methodist Church, North Canton officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at the cemetery.
