Vernon "Dick" "Gunther" Martin's Obituary
Vernon "Dick" "Gunther" Martin, 77, of Dunedin, FL, formerly of Alliance, died on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at East Liverpool City Hospital in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was born on March 25, 1931 in East Liverpool, and lived in Alliance most of his life, moving to Dunedin, Florida 18 years ago. Mr. Martin retired as a Press operator from the Chrysler Corporation, Twinsburg Plant after 28 years of service. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Dunedin, FL. He loved to play cards as often as he could. He is survived by his wife, Arwilda (Warren) Martin, whom he married on April 29, 1972; a daughter, Debbie Kramer of Canton South, OH; a son, Tim McGurren of Las Vegas, NV; two granddaughters, Brianne Penrod of Alliance and Chrys McGurren of Las Vegas, NV. Preceding him in death were his parents, Vernon and Jeanette Martin; and three sisters. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Alliance City Cemetery on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at Alliance City Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
