Vera (Bell) Wehner's Obituary
Vera (Bell) Wehner, 89, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 8:05 pm at Altercare of Alliance. She was born on July 19, 1925 in Damascus, Ohio to Charles and Elizabeth (Kirk) Bell and lived in Alliance all of her life and was a January 1944 graduate of Alliance High School. Vera retired as an Avon Representative after nearly forty years. She was a member of Vine Street United Methodist Church, a member of the Esther Circle, the Crusaders Class and had served as financial secretary for the church for many years. Vera was a member of Alliance Bowling Association and the Alliance Bowler's Hall of Fame for her years of coaching junior bowlers. She was also a member of the Dante Alighieri Society. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards. She volunteered with the Alliance Hospice and was active in the PTA when her children were in school Vera is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Donald) O'Dell of Alliance; two sons, Charles (Ramona) Wehner of Alliance, and Thomas (Marsha) Wehner of Alliance; eight grandchildren, Tina O'Dell, William O'Dell, Rebecca Wehner, Amanda (Jack) Weber, and Kelly Wehner, all of Alliance, Michael (Jennifer) O Dell of AZ, Tammy (Michael) Gilbert of MD, and Charles (Kendra) Wehner, II of NM; eleven great-grandchildren, Christianna O Dell, William M. O Dell, Jackson Weber, all of Alliance, Michael A. O Dell, Madison O Dell, and Olivia O Dell all of Arizona, Ryan Gilbert, Raymond Gilbert both of Maryland, Charles Wehner, III, Keirstynn Wehner, and Kyle Anderson all of New Mexico; two sisters, Helen (Robert) Warren of Alliance, and Virginia (Raymond) Ravelli of Florida; longtime friend, Betty Cartwright of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster C. Wehner on November 23, 1996, whom she married on January 30, 1944; her parents; a brother, George Bell; two sisters, Evelyn Deuvall, and Margaret Bell; and her great-grandson, Cody O Dell. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and also at Vine Street United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Her funeral service will begin at Vine Street United Methodist Church at 11:00 am, with Rev. John Wolfe, former Pastor of Vine Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
