Vera Virginia Nanes' Obituary
Vera Virginia Nanes, 93, of Alliance, died on Thursday, March 23, 2006, at 6:00 a.m. at St. Joseph s Care Center. An Alliance resident since 1927, Vera was born in Eagerville, Illinois, on December 7, 1912. She attended school in Eagerville and Benld, IL, and graduated from Alliance High School and from Alliance Business College. Mrs. Nanes was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and belonged to the Altar & Rosary Society, Infant of Prague, and the Catholic Women s Club. She also was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Auxiliary, the K of C Auxiliary, the Alliance Senior Center, and the Trentino Alpine Club. She had been employed as a payroll clerk at the former American Steel Foundries and retired from Lingenfelter-Brill as a bookkeeper. Vera is survived by her husband, Walter H. Nanes, whom she married on September 30, 1943; and several nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Regina M. (Benalio) Corradi; and a brother, John B. Corradi. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, March 27, 2006, from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Monday, March 27, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
