Vera E. Butler's Obituary
Vera E. Butler, 85, of Alliance, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 5:30 a.m. at Canterbury Villa. She was born on January 22, 1926 in Alliance and lived here all of her life. A graduate of Alliance High School, she was also a graduate of Alliance Business College. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and of their Altar & Rosary Society. Mrs. Butler had previously been employed at the First National City Bank as a Secretary for many years and then later retired from St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was also a secretary for close to 30 years. In her past-time, she enjoyed golfing where she was a member of Tannenhauf Golf Club, enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful cook. Survivors include her husband, Raymond A. Butler, whom she married on August 20, 1947; a son, James (Cheryl) Butler of Alliance; two grandchildren, Randall Butler of Ann Arbor, MI and Marisa Butler of Columbus, OH; a sister Rena Gatien of Alliance; a brother Ronald Alfani of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Eleno and Ada (Menichelli) Alfani. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
