Velma R. Grossenbacher's Obituary
Velma Ruth Grossenbacher, 72, of Alliance, died on Saturday, February 3, 2007, at 11:55 a.m. at McCrea Manor. Born on November 3, 1934 in Woodsfield, Ohio, she had lived in Alliance most of her life. Mrs. Grossenbacher was a member of the Alliance Baptist Temple. She was also a member of the former TOPPS where she had served as an officer. Velma was well known as a baker and cake decorator and enjoyed ceramics. Her family and grandchildren were the loves of her life. She is survived by her husband, Paul W. Grossenbacher, whom she married on May 17, 1952; a daughter, Susan (Dennis) Parrish of Modoc, IN; two sons, Jeffery (Prudy) Grossenbacher of Edinburgh, OH, and Scott (Melissa) Grossenbacher of Louisville, OH; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Alvarez of Cleveland, OH, Marie Shapley of New Matamoras, OH, Betty Kinney of Woodsfield, OH, and Shirley Segner of Jacksonville, NC; a brother, Guy J. Stewart of Cleveland, OH and; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death her parents, Otha Jefferson and Mary Jane (Moore) Stewart; a sister, Janet Lohr; and six brothers, Gailord Stewart, who died in infancy, Joseph Stewart, Harvey Stewart, Kenneth Stewart, John Mellott and Oscar Mellott. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 7, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Randy Payne of the Alliance Baptist Temple, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
