Tony R. Orlando's Obituary
Tony R. Orlando, 79, of Alliance, died on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at 12:35 p.m. at Aultman Hospital. He was born on December 17, 1930 in Waynesburg, and lived in Alliance all of his life. An Airman First Class in the U. S. Air Force, Tony served from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict in Japan. Mr. Orlando was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. Mr. Orlando was a member of the BPO Elks #467, the VFW Post 1036 where he held offices, the Knights of Columbus Council #558, and the Alliance Exchange Club. Tony was a manager at the former Persky s, a salesman for the former Walter P. Boose Co., a driver for Nova Mental Health, and was co-owner of Orange Krate Craft Shop for 28 years. In his past-time, he enjoyed bowling and especially golfing. He is survived by his wife, Christina (Hustus) Orlando whom he married on October 20, 1956; a son, Stephen (Kathy) Orlando of Canal Fulton; and a granddaughter, Jamie Orlando. Preceding him in death were his parents, Vincenro "Jim" and Mary (Recieta) Orlando; and a brother, Mario Orlando. An Elks service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. The family will then receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. There will be a K of C prayer service at 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Friday, July 16, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert, as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
