Tom Stanley's Obituary
Tom Stanley, 72, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at 1:35 a.m. at his home. Born in Deerfield on December 12, 1930, he had been an Alliance resident since 1956 and was a member of the Alliance Believers Center. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Stanley was the owner and operator of The Health Habit. He was previously employed at the former Cope Furniture Company and the former White Motors. Tom was an avid bowler at Parkway Lanes for 40 years and also enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Burson) Stanley whom he married on May 4, 1956; a daughter, Erika Stanley of Louisville; two sisters, Theda Simeone of Niles and Barbara Carver of Sebring; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Grace (Simpson) Stanley; a sister, Violet Weingart; and three brothers, Ernest Stanley, Edward Stanley, and Russell Stanley. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, June 19, 2003, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 20, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Harvey Mehaffie and Pastor Bill Lancaster, co- officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Deerfield Cemetery.
