Thomas A. Burkhart's Obituary
Dr. Thomas A. Burkhart, of Alliance, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 1:20 a.m.
Born on June 1, 1934 in Homeworth, to William and Verna (Mangus) Burkhart, he lived in the Alliance and Sebring areas for most of his life. An Alliance High School graduate, he also graduated from Dr. Paul's Medical School in Cleveland.
Tom served our country in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Council #533, and the NRA.
Tom was the owner of Carnation City Beauty College with three salons in Alliance, Sebring and Salem. A Dr. of Cosmetic Therapy, he began his career in 1963 and continued until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed reading, golfing and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene (Belford) Burkhart, whom he married on May 9, 1964; two sons, Thomas (Andrea) Burkhart of York, PA, and William (Randi) Burkhart of Cambridge; a granddaughter, Brianna Burkhart of York, PA; two grandsons, William Burkhart of Cambridge, and Lance Pentzer of York, PA; his sister, Helen Honsa of CA; his brother, Robert (Nancy) Burkhart of Fairborn; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his two brothers, Harold Burkhart and William Burkhart; and his parents.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Maximo.
