Theresa D. Grecu's Obituary
Theresa D. (Giovanelli) Grecu, 88, of Alliance, died on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born on September 20, 1923 in Alliance and had lived here all of her life. She was a charter member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and also a member of their Altar & Rosary Society, having served as Past Treasurer; the Mary Widow s Club; and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Theresa attended St. Joseph Catholic School, graduated from Alliance High School, class of 1941, and the Alliance Business College. She was previously employed by American Steel foundries as secretary in the Order Department for 14 years, at Graham & Wagner Memorials and retired from the Alliance Municipal Court - Clerk s Office having served 13 years. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patti (Stanley) Ware of Homeworth; grandson, Matt (Natalie) Ware of Clinton; granddaughter, LeAnne (Steve) Kiko of Carrollton; two sisters, Margaret (Charles) Bryan of Massillon, OH and Virgilene (Conrad) Balazs of Kentwood, MI; a brother, Louis (Pat) Giovanelli of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; two nieces, Lisa (Michael) Willerer of Kentwood, MI and Karen (Keith) Blaser of Alliance; and three nephews, Mark (Sherma) Bryan of Spring Valley, OH, Tim (Kate) Bryan of Massillon, OH and Rob (Lisa) Balazs of Birmingham, AL; cousins, Jo Rogel, Mary Alice Antonini, Esther Pandin all of Alliance and Treva Jo (Rich) Aeling of Canton.0 Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Octave "Ockie" Grecu on November 7, 2004, whom she married on September 4, 1948; her parents, Louis and Guistina (Antonini) Giovanelli; sisters-in-laws Margaret "Peg" Giovanelli and Goldie Songer; and brothers-in-laws Charles Bryan and Charles Songer. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Howard Ziemba as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
