Theodore Stipanovich's Obituary
Theodore Joseph Stipanovich, 86 of Minerva, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Altercare Nursing Home in Louisville, Oh where his son, Greg, took care of him until his last breath.
Born on October 11, 1937 in Dearborn Michigan to the late Red and Grace (Staley) Stipanovich, he lived in Pittsburgh, PA most of his life until he moved to Minerva, Ohio for his job.
Known as the Man of Steel, he received special under aged permission in 1953 to work with the iron workers to help his mom when his father passed away. He started as a laborer/helper for $1.98/ hr working on the miracle mile in Pittsburgh, PA. When he was 19, he went to J&L Steel, Pittsburgh Works, Hazelwood side. He bragged of having more job titles than service years, both hourly and Salary, Union and Non Union. His last years before retirement were spent at LTV then Republic Steel.
Also known as Father Ted, he met our mom while studying in the Seminary at The Pontifical College Josephinum. They married October 5, 1957 and quickly started a small family of seven, which he cherished every day of his life.
Ted enjoyed old cars, vacations with mom, camping, his kids, chasing his wife around, and being a "Pap/Grandpa/Bababoo".
Survivors include "The Seven Angels": Cindy (John) Krebs, Dee (Felix) Mercurio, Teddy (Kathy) Stipanovich, Esther (Ray) Campbell, Jeffrey (Maura) Stipanovich, Greg "Merc" Stipanovich, and Susie (Dan) Tubbs; 13 grandchildren, Justin, Mike, TJ, Emily, Ashley, Rebecca, Nate, Josh, Alyssa, Brittany, Nick, Alexandria, and Sami; 11 great grandchildren, with two more on the way, Abbi, Reece, Mackenzie, Olivia, Jimmy, Owen, Aurora, Lilly, Charlie, Rosie, and Baylor.
Preceding him in death was his beautiful wife, Esther Marie (Uniatowski), his parents; and his brother, George (Evelyn) Stipanovich.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Pastor John Ryser, of Damascus Friends Church, officiating.
