Susan Akers' Obituary
Susan K. (Gilbert) Akers, 63, of Louisville, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 11:48 am at her home in Louisville, Ohio.
Born on March 29, 1962 in Canton, to Ronald and Kay (Bremer) Gilbert, she lived in Louisville all of her life.
She was a graduate of Marlington High School and also from Walsh University, earning her Masters Degree in Special Education.
Susan was employed with Canton City Schools teaching Special Education for K – 12.
Susan enjoyed gardening, boating and camping. She especially loved teaching children.
Survivors include her husband, Harold J. Akers, whom she married on September 27, 1985; two daughters, Sarah Akers and Emily (Robert) Akers-Mitman; one sister; three brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
