Steven Malycke's Obituary
Steven Malycke, 91, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Crandall Medical Center. He was born on July 14, 1920 in Cleveland, and lived in Alliance most of his life. Steven attended Baldwin-Wallace College and was a graduate of Ohio University. He earned his Masters Degree from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. A veteran of World War II, he served our country in the U. S. Army Reserve Corps. He retired from Mount Union College, where he was employed as a professor of music and had played with the Cleveland Orchestra and for numerous Broadway musicals. Mr. Malycke was well known locally for his piano tuning service. He is survived by his wife, Lois (Neff ) Malycke; three daughters, Lucy ( David) Downs of Canton, Sue (Dennis) Middleton of Hartville and Karin (Raymond) Dridge of Virginia Beach, VA; a son, Dan (Joy) Malycke Purcellville, VA; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Daniel and Tessie (Petrouska) Malycke; a sister; and a brother. A Private Service will be held. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at Mt. Union Cemetery.
