Steve Erchick's Obituary
Steve Erchick, 92, of Alliance, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 4:39 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on August 11, 1916 in Donora, PA, to the late Joseph and Catherine (Tegi) Erchick, and lived in Alliance most of his life. A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, Steve retired from Alliance City Schools in 1979 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, council 558. Steve was devoted to his family and he enjoyed sports and was a daily walker. Mr. Erchick is survived by a sister, Clara King of TX; a sister-in-law, Vicki Erchick of Alliance; three brothers, Charles Erchick of Alliance, Joseph (Terry) Erchick of Alliance and Bill Erchick of NJ; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; five sisters, Katherine Erchick who died in infancy, Marie Korleski, Josephine Dellis, Julie Woolf and Katherine Short; and two brothers, Julius Erchick and Louis Erchick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, July 20, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht, as celebrant. There will be no calling hours. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
