Stephen M. Zamagias' Obituary
Stephen M. Zamagias, 91, of North Canton, and formerly of Alliance, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, February 12, 2021 at his home in North Canton.
Born on June 22, 1929 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Michael and Lottie (Andrews) Zamagias, he lived in Alliance most of his life.
A 1948 graduate of Alliance High School, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, he attended Mount Union College where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was very proud that all of his children graduated from Mt. Union
College.
Stephen was the former owner of the Busy Bee Restaurant and the Crystal Lounge.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 1036, Alliance Senior Center and B.P.O. Elks, Lodge #467.
Stephen loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing and was a loyal Cleveland Browns Fan.
Survivors include his wife, Norma (Aquilo) Zamagias, whom he married on July 3, 1954; four daughters, Julie Zamagias-Lambert of Alliance, Stephenie (Dave) Skolosh of Alliance, Michele (Steve) Valentine of North Canton and Alicia (Jeffrey) Davis of Canton; his son, Stephen G. (Anna) Zamagias of Cincinnati; thirteen grandchildren, Adam Clapper, Anthony Zamagias, Matthew Zamagias, Daniel Zamagias, Aaron Valentine, Andrew Valentine, Joseph Valentine, Nicholas Valentine, Lynsey (Todd) Bricker, Haley (Sam) Hake, Rachel Davis, Rebecca Davis and Kevin Davis; four great-grandchildren, Carli, Allie, Lacey and Kinslee; a sister, Barbara Monea of Alliance; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death his parents; a brother, George Zamagias; and a sister, Mary Lou Fuchs.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Very Rev. Canon Matthew J. Mankowski, of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Alliance City Cemetery.
