Shirley L. Faust's Obituary
Shirley Lorraine (Stone) Faust , age 85 of Copeland Oaks, Sebring, found eternal peace and was reunited with her beloved husband on Saturday, October 30, 2010. She was born on June 24, 1925 in East St. Louis, IL to Della Hecht Stone and William Bryan Stone. She graduated from Collinsville Township (IL) High School and the Felt and Tarrant Comptometer School in St. Louis. She married Cletus T. Faust in Miami FL on September 11, 1944 while he was in the Navy in World War II. They settled in Belleville IL where Clete worked at American Steel Foundries. In 1956, they accepted a transfer to the Alliance Works of American Steel. In 1961, Shirley started working on her degree in Education at Walsh College, graduating in 1969. Shirley and Clete were founding members of Regina Coeli Church, where Shirley taught grades 3 through 6 for fifteen years. Following their retirement, they moved to Canton. Shirley was a great help to her husband as he attended seminary and eventually was ordained as a Permanent Deacon. Together they served St. John s Catholic Church in Canton as Pastoral Ministers for ten years. They were in charge of Homebound Communion, Food and Clothing Ministry, Quilters and Senior Citizens. In 1991, the Fausts relocated to Copeland Oaks in Sebring. Shirley sang in the Chorale, worked in the Thrift Shop, served on the Residents Council and was Secretary of the Food Committee. The residents enjoyed being the recipients of her ever present smiles as she drove around Copeland Oaks on her red scooter, Ladybug. Shirley will be missed greatly and fondly remembered by her daughters, Lynn Weber (Richard) of North Canton OH and Mary Margaret (Peggy) Piascik (Michael) of Lexington KY; grandchildren, Lt Col Jeremy Weber (Heather) of Vandenberg AFB CA, Jacob Weber (Amy Sumor) of Laurel MD, Benjamin Weber of New York City, Joshua Weber (Jennifer) of Nashville TN, Wendy Weber Baker (Judson) of Chicago IL, John Michael Piascik (Brittany) of Shelbyville KY and 2nd Lt Christopher Piascik of Maxwell AFB, AL; great-grandchildren, Joel and Lacey Weber, Seamus Sumor, Reid, Eli and Emma Weber, Tyler and Ethan Baker. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus T. Faust in 1992; her parents, William and Della Stone; her sister, Della Ann Stone Williams; and her infant brother, William Stone. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the caring staff of Crandall Rehabilitation Center for the special care they gave Shirley during her stay there. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. David Parry, Chaplain of Copeland Oaks officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
