Shirley A. Collins' Obituary
Shirley A. Collins, 80, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 12:30 a.m. at home with her family following a battle with cancer. She was born on August 22, 1930 in Alliance and lived in Alliance most of her life. Mrs. Collins was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was a member of the Alliance Senior Center. In her past-time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing and trips to Mountaineer. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lowell V. Collins whom she married on March 10, 1956; three daughters, Terri Longmore, Kathy Miracola and Kelly Wise; 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Carey, Jennifer, Tiffany, Branden and Brittany; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson and Donna Derry; a brother, James Obney; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Marshall and Anna (Patrick) Obney; and a sister, Carol. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, June 17, 2011 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Hostettler of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
