Sara Cohn's Obituary
Sara Cohn, 97, of Alliance, died on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at 6:30 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1912, in Alliance, and lived in Alliance all of her life. Sara was a 1930 graduate of Alliance High School and was a member of Temple Israel in Canton. Throughout her working career she was a seamstress, caterer and a cook. In her past-time, she enjoyed her weekly card club meetings, traveling, sewing and ceramics. Sara also enjoyed cooking, canning and pickling. But she especially loved spending time with her family. Sara is survived by her two daughters, Florence (Butch) Weaver of Alliance and Barbara (Dan) McQuistion of Bedford, OH; two grandchildren, Susan (Mike) Jarvis and Scott (Denise) Weaver; five great-grandchildren, Molly, Kate, Sara, Dean, and Beth; and several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Jeni. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Cohn on January 6, 1999, whom she married on August 10, 1941; her parents, Hymie and Sophie (Drutz) Munitz; a sister, Esther Tucker; and a brother, Jake Munitz. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Rabbi Leah Herz & Rabbi John H. Spitzer of Temple Israel co-officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Cemetery on Cleveland Avenue in Canton. Following the interment, the family will receive friends at Sara s home on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, after 4:30 p.m. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given to their mother by Alliance Community Hospital, Community Care Center, and Caring Hands.
