Ruth E. Welty's Obituary
Ruth E. Welty, 93, of Sebring, died Thursday, October 24, 2002, at 4:10 p.m. at Salem Community Hospital. Born in Moultrie, Ohio on April 3, 1909, she had attended Moultrie School for one year before entering Alliance Public Schools where she graduated in 1927. She continued her education at Ohio University, graduating in 1931. A resident of the Alliance area for most of her life, she was a teacher for three years in Delta, OH, a bookkeeper in Pearl Harbor, and had retired in 1975 from the offices of Dr. George L. King and Dr. Douglass S. King as an orthoptist and bookkeeper. Ms. Welty was a member of First Immanuel United Church of God. She was a member of the A.A.R.P., A.A.U.W. and the Alliance Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include her nephew William Slusser of Kettering, Ohio; a niece, Mrs. Carol Adkins of Canton, Ohio; and several cousins. Preceding her in death were parents, Leander and Elizabeth (Nunamaker) Heestand; and two sisters, Helen Slusser in 1973 and Beulah Seiler in 1991. A Memorial Service will be held at Moultrie Chapel Cemetery on Monday, October 28, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. with Neal Mann officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements, which include cremation, are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
